As a creative person, I've always
found it best to let it come naturally. The odd side to
this equation is that on one side I give it free reign in
its own time- the other side reflects a penchant for
formal influences in both areas(with pen for writing or
with brush for art). Just as there is freedom
within self-discipline, there can be rules within
artistic freedom. I'm not led by rules but I generally
follow them at some level.
Here, my poetry and writing in general, with English
Literature being a factor, as well as my art, had
their seed planted in highschool- if it wasn't there
already. However, it did not get full spotlight until
recent years when the need for financial responsibility
wasn't as strong. Most of that period until lately
was spent in the service industry as cook/chef which
allowed me a level of creativity.. Otherwise, when it
comes to creativity I am as DaVinci put it 'ouma sensa
lettere' or without formal training aside from exposure
to the field. Right now that includes volunteering at a
public art gallery steadily since 1997.
Thank you,
Doug
