When I was a child, I
had an ambition and even dreamt of becoming a writer. In
the school, my class teacher used to explain lessons
clearly with the authors idea behind it. I was very
much influenced by the way in which my teacher was
teaching. During this period, I may be ten year old boy
and it was beyond my reach to understand the author and
his work. The environment in which I was growing was not
favorable. The place, where I was born and brought up was
neither a city nor a village. My parents were also not
interested to pursue their children in the line of
literature. My parents having orthodox ideologies and
believe only religious practices.
When I completed my degree in Bachelor of Arts, I took
some interest in the field of literature. Soon after the
passing of degree, I got a job in the bank. The nature of
work in the bank did not permit me to continue either
reading or writing. I got the opportunity only after
retirement from the bank after serving more than thirty
years. I had decided to devote maximum time for reading
and writing. In the year 2006, I was able to write 14
short stories in Kannada (a regional Indian Language) and
published in the same year under the title
Aparopada Manushya, which means A Rare
Person. Rich experience in various departments of
the bank helped me to write stories on bank employees and
their problems in day today life. Most of the readers
praised me and advised me continue the efforts. My second
book containing 11 short stories in Kannada under the
title Akaashdinda Bhumige is ready for
publication.
As far as writing in English is concerned, I have made
sincere attempt to write short stories in the language
and all were published in various websites like
storyofmylife.com, ourstory.com, ibibo.com etc. English
being a second language for me, I have to apply my mind
with great care not to commit grammatical mistakes. I
take the help of the spelling grammar check of Microsoft.
In spite of all this I am not satisfied with my work. In
my mother tongue Kannada, I have full confidence and I
can say I have got command over the language.
While writing the flow of innovative and creative ideas
are naturally abundant in Kannada than in English. I am
taking the assistance of websites, whenever I write in
English.
